Project Leader Information

Being a Hands On Kansas City volunteer leader is a great way to take your volunteering to the next level while developing leadership and management skills, enhancing your resume or simply meeting new people and making more Hands On Kansas City friends. Hands On Kansas City staffs most of its group volunteer projects with one or more Project Leaders. Project Leaders provide organization and leadership for the service project and management and motivation for the volunteers.  After you have participated in at least one Hands On Kansas City project you are eligible to become a Project Leader.  Please follow the steps below to take your volunteerism to the next level.

  1. Submit application to be a Project Leader (call 913-341-1792 to receive one).
  2. Hands On Kansas City staff reviews applications and contacts candidates.
  3. Candidates accepted as leaders are assigned a program or event.
  4. Candidates attend Project Leader Training at the Volunteer Center.
  5. Attend at least one site visit or project before assuming leadership of event.
  6. Lead and have fun!
