The following volunteer opportunities are available at area organizations.

Stand of Colors Civil War Volunteers – Get involved in a unique event on May 16-18 in Kansas City, MO.  Duties include selling tickets, parking attendees, concession booths, etc.  This civil war re-enactment benefits disadvantaged children.

Office Support—Looking for a volunteer opportunity that is resume-worthy? Assist an office committed to promoting growth in the nonprofit community. Support staff by providing excellent customer service, aiding in fundraising and promotional initiatives and assisting with critical daily operations. Office is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Bocce Tournament Volunteers—Scorekeepers, award presenters and officials are needed to assist with the KC Metro Area Bocce Tournament from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sunday, April 27 in Blue Springs, Mo. Multiple shifts are available. Groups are welcome.

Historical Research Assistant—Volunteers are needed to aid patrons in family history research, to process new holdings, to work with school groups and to assist archivists with research responses. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and available at least one day between 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Volunteers receive training in historical research.

Tree Alliance Volunteer—Contribute to the beauty and environmental well-being of our community as a Tree Alliance Volunteer! Prune, plant and care for trees in metropolitan region. Training in proper pruning and planting of trees, either through a Heartland Tree Alliance workshop or equivalent training, is required.

Summer Docent—Assist the Kansas City Zoo with a variety of hands-on activities in our high traffic guest locations Memorial Day-Labor Day. The Summer Docent Program is perfect for those who cannot make a year round commitment and requires a minimum of one 4-hour shift per month and 12 hours of service per summer. Must be 18 years old. Training is required.
